Alumni Social Weekend 2007 AWESOME!!

"The Best Party Skins Ever Had" said most of the people at the party after the SKN - DX game. We had two "kick ass" bands. It was a live concert in the middle of the skin house! Super No. 7 and Tommy Magik and The Wonderfuls, two excellent bands, performed back to back. There were tons of people, all of whom got along great.

As if this weren't enough entertainment, Dan Bauer climbed 30' to the top of the roof of the party house!

In the first photo are the first arrivals at the Pub on Game Day, Sat., April 28th (l to r: Jason Busato, James Lane, Stephen Hornyak, and Adam Ruppert). Next is OAKLEY

the SKN house dog, a very friendly full bred pitt bull. He's wearing his green and gold "War Face" paint. And finally we have the winning team & all brothers at the game!! You should be able to spot alumni: Jeff Schenker, as well as James Lane, Jason Busato (holding the football), Dmitri Kukui, Adam Ruppert, Matt Withum, Stephen Hornyak, and Robert "Squatch" Nowak. In addition, several of our May 2007 graduates are there: Andy "Booger" Grace and Charles Gaglione,

Graduating but not in the photo are Jason Benkert and Mark Walczak. Doc

Gilligan Finds Blackberries

Yesterday the latest edition of Behrend Magazine arrived, and I immediately search for SKN alums. Ignoring the obligtory pic of Kevin Moore, there were a bounty of Skins this month, including a feature of the reigning SKN NCAA Tourney Bracket Champ.

State Police at the 2007 Alumni Reunion

We have four SKN's who are Pennsylvania State Police. Here are two of them at the Pub during Alumni Social Weekend on Saturday, April 28th after the football game. On the left is Jim Quirk, center is Jeff Schenker, and on the right is Greg Hoover. Both Jim Quirk and Greg Hoover are stationed at the Lawrence Park Barracks. We talked mostly about Jeff's adventures and the days when Jim and Greg were students. Greg was Mark Bauer's roommate at the old house for two years. Many great memories!! Doc

Alumni Social Weekend SKN-DX Score

It was a 41 degree drizzling day for the game. The sideline drunks gathered at the Pub pregame. As usual, we had a keg at the game, which was at the GE fields. I took photos of the team, which I will post later. Jeff Schenker was there and also at inductions on April 27th. Sasquatch + date, Rupert, Fries, Bauer, Busato, Hornyak, Mastrian, Lane were among the alumni present. See the attached graphic for the score. I will post team photos later. After taking care of Cody, my 115# German Shepherd, I'm ready to return to the Pub for more festivities. Doc

Greek Sing 1990

Since there aren't alot of alumni out west to report on, I've been digging through old photographs looking for good stuff to post, and this one definately had to be first. This is the "YMCA/Macho Man" crew from Greek Sing. It was right after I pledged, so it HAS to be Spring of 1990 (there's no date on the back of the picture, unfortunately).

From left to right: Mark Sigmund, Kevin Bartholomew, Clay Robeson, Hal Donachy, Sammy Condeluci, and Chuck Behanna.

(At least, I *THINK* that's me in the middle. I know I was there, but it could be Chuck. Which means I don't know who's on the end, cause I wasn't the Construction Worker.)

Kevin Moore in Charleston

I met Kevin in Charleston yesterday. He was in South Carolina to meet a potential Penn State donor. Originally, his business trip took him from Charlotte to Wilmington to Charleston, and he would have driven right by my house, but his Wilmington meeting cancelled. He offered to meet me half way between Charleston and Pawleys Island, but there really isn't anything between Charleston and Pawleys Island... plus Charleston is really a cool city, and I was excited to see it again, just a week and a half after B.A.'s wedding. It was also fun to buzz down on the bike. Great to see you Kevin!

Here's Jeff

Kevin Moore read the Schenker blog and sent in this pic. Kevin gave Jeff a tour of Behrend last week.

Jeff Schenker Around the World

Jeff's travels have taken him to the exotic locale of Erie, PA. The following pictures are the former location of the SKN House. The only remains are a pile of boulders. I wonder what archeoligical digs will turn up on this historic site?

Back to Charleston

I am hoping to meet up with Kevin Moore (April 1983) this week. He will be in Charleston on Tuesday, and since I am off, I am thinking about buzzing down to say "hi". Since moving to the beach in January, I have seen more Skins than I did in 10 years in Oklahoma and Texas. So far this year I have seen Bill Almes (Fall 1985), Brian Adams (Fall 1987) and Dave Starsnic (Fall 1986). Mike Huggins (Spring 1990) was in town, but he would only meet me at a strip club, and I missed him. I will probably run into Jim Joubert (Fall 1987) sometime, since he now lives in Charleston. While in OK and TX, I had visits from Jon Tunney (Fall 1987) and Ed Vandegrift (Fall 1989). Jeff Schenker (Fall 1988) also stopped by my house in Oklahoma, but I was stuck at work and missed him.

If anyone is going to be in the Myrtle Beach area, make sure to give me a call.

Forte (Forty = 40) Hands & "Containers"

We have a brother Kevin Forte.
Forte is pronounced like the number 40. Three years ago he got the idea to correlate his name & 40 oz. "containers". Attached is a photo of the first "Forty Hands" from Spring 2004. This semester I stopped by the house, and there they were -- brothers and friends with 40 ouncers taped to both hands! The tradition continues, although they weren't dressed like the Village People this time. Doc

I'll actually post something of substance later, but if anyone out there is a Live Journal user, you can subscribe to this here blog's RSS feed on your friends list by going to:

CLAAAAY!!

The Grand Wizard

Hey Skins,

Grand Wizard, aka "Doc". Do you remember the "Slack Alliance" founded by Scoli and Frank Galioto? I was the Grand Wizard, a title I still proudly wear. And there was the rival SKN Gang, "The Black Hole".
The Alumni Social Weekend featuring the Delta Chi game is April 27-29th. Details were in the notice I sent March 26. If you didn't get it or it was misplaced, just write to me and I'll send you another. Also check out >>>

Fred Containers

It has been a while since I have run into many of you as I have been in the Bay Area for ten years.
My question for the current and recent BOOFS (Book opposite of freds or Students):
Do you (or have you done) Edward 40 Hands? From what I am told, this is when you tape two 40s to your hands with duct tape.
If so, post pictures, if not then I just gave you an idea..

B.A.'s Wedding

Brian Adams (Fall 1987) got married last weekend in Charleston, SC. Great city for a wedding, especially since all I did was hop in the car for a quick one hour drive south from Pawleys Island. The other Skin in attendance was Dave Starsnic (Fall 1986) who was a groomsman. Dave's kids were also in the wedding.
The rehersal dinner was at the Palmer Home on the Battery in historic Charleston. The house overlooked the bay with Fort Sumter in the distance. Great location for everyone to meet up, and also within walking distance of all of the local attractions. The bride and groom, as well as the wedding party all stayed at the Palmer Home.
The wedding and reception were held at the Govorner Thomas Bennett House. A nice, historic mansion with very pretty grounds.
We must be getting old, because nobody played caps, and there was no underwear dance. There was, however, belly-dancing. Nice hips Dave!

It has been about 10 years since I have seen B.A. or Dave... great to see you! What a fun weekend.

March 8, 2007 - Behrend is planning for their 60th anniversary, which will be in summer or fall of 2008. We should start making plans to create a SKN reunion around that. It would be way cool to get all the old timers back. Behrend is making plans to accommodate children with campus and short classes (e.g. Mythbusters, dinosaurs, martial arts, hiking the woods, etc.) so the adults can breathe for a while. - Kevin Moore (April 1983)

March 7, 2007 - Mike Plociniak (Fall 1988) had his First child, Annabelle Meadow March 27, 2006.

March 4, 2007 - Anyway, my update is that I am actually returning home from my 3 year adventure thru Latin America. I'm in Chile at the moment but I plan to fly home from Peru at the end of March. This doesn't mean I will have an address or phone number... it just means I will be in the USA. If I get my way, my life of leisure will continue. We'll see....... Jeff Schenker (Fall 1988)

March 4, 2007 - Deb Shapiro (Spring 1991) is getting married October 7th. Rob Perry is the lucky guy's name, and lucky Deb - he is a professional brewer. yes, of beer. so if you're ever in baltimore, look them up so you can drink the best beer in maryland :-)

March 4, 2007 - Brian Adams (Fall 1987) is getting married in Charleston, SC in April. Dave Starsnic (Fall 1986), and Frank Johnson (Fall 1987) will be there.

March 4, 2007 - I had dinner with Bill Almes (Fall 1985) this week. Bill lives in North Carolina, and is in the Myrtle Beach area often on business. It was great to see him after all these years, and I almost didn't recognize him with grey hair. - Scoli

March 4, 2007 - I'll send my update first. We just moved to South Carolina. I got a job as the weekday evening weather guy at the CBS station in Myrtle Beach, and bought a house in Pawleys Island. I am excited to be back on the coast, and closer to friends and family. My girls are growing fast, Olivia is 2, and Chloe 4. Frank Johnson (Scoli) (Fall 1987)
